چکیده

Mutualistic interactions have great importance in ecology, with genetic information that takes shape through within the symbiotic partners and between environment. It is known variation of host-associated microbiome contributes to buffer adaptation challenges host’s physiology when facing varying environmental conditions. In agriculture, pivotal examples are nitrogen-fixing rhizobia, contribute greatly host (legume plants) productivity. A holistic view increasing crop yield resistance biotic abiotic stresses engineering, exploitation a its rationally designed manipulation synthetic microbial communities. However, several studies highlighted expression desired phenotype resides species-specific, even genotype-specific partners. Consequently, there need dissect such an intimate level interaction, aiming identify main components both playing role differences/host preferences. present paper, while briefly reviewing knowledge plant–microbe interaction rhizobial studies, we aim promote research on genotype x rhizobia plants for rational design communities be used sustainably improving leguminous yield.

Legume Sanctions and the Evolution of Symbiotic Cooperation by Rhizobia.

The legume-rhizobium symbiosis is an ideal model for studying the factors that limit the evolution of microbial mutualists into parasites. Legumes are unable to consistently recognize parasitic rhizobia that, once established inside plant cells, use plant resources for their own reproduction rather than for N2 fixation. Evolution of parasitism in rhizobia, driven partly by competition among mul...

Evolutionary signals of symbiotic persistence in the legume-rhizobia mutualism.

Understanding the origins and evolutionary trajectories of symbiotic partnerships remains a major challenge. Why are some symbioses lost over evolutionary time whereas others become crucial for survival? Here, we use a quantitative trait reconstruction method to characterize different evolutionary stages in the ancient symbiosis between legumes (Fabaceae) and nitrogen-fixing bacteria, asking ho...

R gene-controlled host specificity in the legume-rhizobia symbiosis.

Leguminous plants can enter into root nodule symbioses with nitrogen-fixing soil bacteria known as rhizobia. An intriguing but still poorly understood property of the symbiosis is its host specificity, which is controlled at multiple levels involving both rhizobial and host genes. It is widely believed that the host specificity is determined by specific recognition of bacterially derived Nod fa...

Specificity in Legume-Rhizobia Symbioses

Most species in the Leguminosae (legume family) can fix atmospheric nitrogen (N₂) via symbiotic bacteria (rhizobia) in root nodules. Here, the literature on legume-rhizobia symbioses in field soils was reviewed and genotypically characterised rhizobia related to the taxonomy of the legumes from which they were isolated. The Leguminosae was divided into three sub-families, the Caesalpinioideae, ...
